SayReal is a music group comprising Naia Kete, Imani Elijah, and Lee John. They are on a journey to tell their story and offer their opinions to the world.

I would describe their music and style as deep and conscious. Beautiful Lead Singer Naia Kete flows effortlessly and her voice is equally as beautiful. She is multi-instrumentalist playing guitar, keys, bass, and African Djun-Djun drums. Her leadership drives SayReal and inspires each member to continue a life dedicated to the pursuit of music and revolution.

Naia Kete’s brother Imani is a multi-talented drummer, singer, songwriter, guitar player, bassist, and keyboardist epitomizing a dedicated musician and leader in the band. The third member of the group Lee John is a drummer and contributes immensely to constructing lyrics and background vocals.

Catching Sunlight is the latest single from the group. It is a rebellious song asking people to live the kind of life they want to and not be subjected to living life like they in a prison. Be free, breath and catch some sunlight

I called her a star some hours ago on Instagram because that what she is, or will be in the nearest future. Her vocals are beautiful, she is extremely good looking, and her video for Tainted love is top notch. Let me sound a note of warning, You will get hooked on her sound when you listen to this song so get ready to be a Fan.

She is also very down to earth and pleasant to talk to. You will notice her sweetness as you get into a conversation with her. Honestly, I have played this song over and over and I can sit my a** here all day listening to her voice.

Kizzdaniel’s fuck you challenge is probably the biggest Nigerian challenge ever witnessed on Instagram. We not only have Nigerian stars, but we have got the biggest artiste from Africa sending in their entries. Some of the emerging acts posted on this blog on a daily had amazing covers and were reposted by the Megastar on his Instagram. Acts like Toby Grey, Blaqbones, and officialBils just to mention a few.

The fans are delighted as some of their favorite acts take turns to dismantle the instrumental made by Young John. Kizz daniel started the Fuck you challenge some weeks ago and it is basically about telling a story of cheating partners in a relationship. Here is a compilation of what we think are the best covers and why.

1. Kizz Daniel

The original version in my opinion still remains the best and retains its relevance. S/o to Kizz Daniel for this initiative, it also gives young acts the chance to level up against the giants and it provides a platform to discover new emerging acts.

2. Tiwa Savage

We all know that Tiwa’s version came from a deep down. Failed Relationships and betrayed trust, she has been through them all. For a while, she has been on a break but decided to let some steam. Her version wins the category of the most controversial cover and the fact is controversy sells. We are glad to finally hear from her.

3. Toby Grey

I talked about Toby Grey in a post last week about her new single Show Glass featuring Chinko and Terry Apala, I told y’all about how amazing she is as an artiste. Her cover to Kizz daniels Woju was what brought her limelight. She just made another brilliant cover to kizz Daniels song which has also earned her a mention from kiZZ Daniel. Kizz Daniel and his team via Instagram have promised to work with Tobi Grey for free in 2019. Hopefully, this challenge has lead her to her helper.

4. SUPERCHEQUEBOY

This to me is the discovery of the challenge.Prior to this, I never heard of him before. His style is 100 and he totally smashed it. Very different vibe.

5. Ladipoe

Ladipoe is one of the most consistent rap acts in Nigeria at this point. The Mavin Record artiste is out here to prove a point. His version stands out from the rest because of his very concept and approach. I love the idea, you can tell he has taken his time to think of how to make a version different from the rest. His dialogue / conversation with his girl friend is really cool.

6. Nadia Nakai

South Africa is always known for coming through in rap cyphers. There is an abundance of rap talents in the country, I need not mention them. Nadia Nakai The south African Femcee sent in her cover and boy it did not disappoint! Although she sounded like she lost her voice, her bars were serious and it felt like she is talking from experience. Look out for her. Real talk!

7. Simi

They are not much to say other than the fact that she has got an amazing voice. Probably the best in Africa. Simi will always win any competition with her sonorous voice.

8. Bils

Y’all stand up for this dude mehn. He came through with the best lines and quotables. He even used names of popular acts to make his metaphors and punchlines. I love it, the best rap version but the only thing is that it falls short in terms of production. You may have to struggle to hear him clearly but some good headphones will help.

9. Skiibii

Skibii is probably one of the most insulted artiste in Nigeria. He took time to task and get off the runway especially with his time in Five-star music. Soon after he left Five Star Music, his career took off and he has been on a winning streak. His Fuck you challenge is also really dope, he seemed very comfortable and balanced on the young John produced instrumental. I am happy that someone who people thought would never blow up is doing awesome for himself and his fans now.

10. Ycee

Ycee always comes correct. He is a sweet blend of rapping and singing. His version also stands out. Swag, Lyrical ability, and finesse.

11. Dremo

Very similar concept to Ycee, Dremo comes correct on his verse. His concept is also dramatic and he paints a picture of a girl that has fucked the entire DMW crew. I think his version is the most aggressive almost like the chick is his kid .. lol. Dremo was expected in Indianapolis USA alongside Mayorkun in the month of March but failed to make it due to technical issues. The event has been rescheduled.

12. Falz

Falz is a natural storyteller. I reviewed his album Moral Instructions a while ago and compared it’s relevance to that of the legendary Fela. His fuck you challenge is really dramatized and I love it especially how he switches from Pidgin to English effortlessly.

13. Demmiee vee

Dope artiste! He got his break last year when he released his massive hit single Tiff. Tiff went on to get almost 1 million views on youtube. He also featured on one of the best songs on Falz album titled Hypocrite. His voice is astounding and very unique.

14. Sarkodie

One of the best artiste Africa, this mans delivery is unrivaled. The energy in his voice can power up a dead soul. It is something like versaline for every instrumental, so smooth and glides in without friction. I also love his cover

15. BlaqBonez

Dude has been very consistent and his consistency has begun to pay off. I remember when i would call Blaq to offer him some management advise, at this point he knew nothing about the music business. I was able to lay the foundations for his understanding of the business side. I feel very happy seeing him at this level. He is currently signed to choc city under the tutelage of Audu Maikori and M.I Abaga two of the most powerful music businessmen in Africa.

As more and more covers continue to drop we will keep you updated.

My kind of love song. It is mid-tempo, danceable and sweet to the ears. It appeals to both the French and the English speaking community.  English and French-speaking countries make up the majority of Africa. Most of Africa are colonies of Britain, France , Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, or Spain.

Kudos to every African flooding the American and European market with lovely Afrobeat tune and videos. In no time Afrobeat will be the most listened to genre in the USA especially when you consider that songs like Fall by David is enjoying massive airplay on USA radio and is on some highly acknowledged music chats.

Prince P is a Cameroonian Afrobeat artist and he collaborates with Eddy Bee to provide us with a very melodious hit.

We are about to start an African music industry in America. Why not? This is the ultimate goal. An industry where people’s intellectual property is protected by law, where you can actually make money from doing local shows, and where you have access to the latest technologies and the finest clubs.

This dream will soon be a reality if songs like KOKO J featuring Sinzu and Toby keep droping in the USA. With the amount of talents out here now here really should not be any need for Afrobeat artists in America to go back to Nigeria in other to survive.  These amazing talents are all over this blog and i encourage you to check them out.

Koko J features Sinzu and Toby on this dope video directed by HD Genesis films. Great for Sinzu, since his release from prison he has been very sharp and busy.

Mr. Icey releases his much anticipated single Shut down. The U.S based Senegalese artist also shot the video to the single at Club Kalakutah in Indianapolis and we have some exclusive photos from the shoot.

The anticipated video which was shot by Threshold Productions and directed by Mazi Ifeanyi is expected to drop in a few weeks. Mr. icey has already scored hits like Erimma and African girl featuring B. Red HKN.

Occasionally I discover awesome acts on social media, their songs pop up on my timeline. Other times, I find email attachments in my mail and post them to social media if the songs are legit.

The first time i Saw Dee Moneey’s content, it popped up on my timeline on Instagram. I reposted it with the caption ,“ he is a mix of Akon and Loso

Born Desmond Kwame Amoah, Dee Moneey is a gifted songwriter, rapper and performer who started making music at a really young age. For a generation raised with hip-life, hip-hop, and pop music, Dee Moneey has created a style that blends hip-hop, techno, dance, house cadence, and Hip-life inflection to make such a unique sound. He is going to be a force to reckon with if he keeps spitting these fire barz. E.L also comes correct on his verse. This is some heavy tune

It is my opinion that the yoruba culture is the god of party music . You may say this is stereotypical, but the yoruba people are known world-wide for partying a lot — a term popularly referred to as Owambe. Party music is fast tempo, energetic and full of life . On the contrary, I believe Igbo music is better suited for love songs, worship songs or break up songs; Slow songs that are meant to get you all teary-eyed or put you in a reflective mood.

Slim Brown’s song in a way is just an exaltation of the Igbo culture. I am in love with the Igbo culture (Attire and music) depicted in this video. It is rich and buoyant full of color and pride. The video depicts Igbo traditions such as parenting, marriage rites, and mostly lifestyle. Nkem is an Igbo word that means My Own, and is dedicated to people who have been together forever since childhood. Many people find their life partner so early in life, both parties grow up together for years and end up starting a family. This is everyone’s dream but only a few of us are that lucky. Life happens …

Love is a beautiful thing, and it is even more beautiful when you find your better half early in life. Although it also poses its own challenges like immaturity, the advantages may outweigh any disadvantage if both parties are mature.
