This is Fight music!

The End sars protests on the streets of Nigeria may have been truncated by the very aggressive Government approach of shooting at the protesters, but the voice of the masses of Nigeria has been heard throughout the world. Pictures of the shooting incident at the Lekki toll gate that surfaced online showed the Nigerian police and the Nigerian military shooting at unarmed protesters, injuring and killing many in the process; something that the Nigerian government has denied. The lesson from this is that we as Nigerian people should ensure that we elect credible people into political office. We should no longer accept people with questionable character or those with past misdeeds as leaders. A leopard never loses it’s spots.

Now that it is apparent that the people in power do not mind killing protesters, it is time for the youths of Nigeria to restrategize and come up with other ways to pressure the Government to listen to their concerns. Music however is one of many ways to achieve this. Historically, music has been used effectively to effect change, raise awareness over a social issue, and pressure the Government into making the right decisions. Music is a massive weapon for activism. Here is a mix by DJ Final that comprises many of the revolutionary songs of years to years from Fela Anikulapo Kuti down to present-day Afrobeat artists.

Indianapolis is home to many creative designers and fashion brands. One brand that stands out among many is “Brainsrage” owned by Creative designer Olanrewaju Gafar aka Brain – A Nigerian businessman and fashion enthusiast.

Born in the highly industrial city of Lagos Nigeria, Brain developed a passion for good clothes early on. The vibrant and colorful culture of Lagos helped him develop an eye for good fabric. “I come from Lagos; A place of fashion and creativity, a place where people take you for who you appear to be or in other words, you get addressed the way you are dressed. That’s why i learned to style people. I want people to be addressed properly”. Brian said. “The name Brainsrage simply means Brains passion. The word “rage” can be used in different ways to express how I feel. Most people would feel it’s a way of showing anger, but we actually mean is “a vehement desire or passion.”

“The goal is to allow us the freedom to express ourselves in what we wear and what we represent. We want to ensure that everyone around the world is comfortable wearing our brand”.

Brainsrage recently launched a line of fall Camouflage fatigues for the fall season and are expected to put out more merch in the coming weeks.

The end SARS #ENDSARS protest in Nigeria has gained a lot of momentum as many Nigerians have taken to the streets in several States to protest against the Special Anti-robbery unit of the Police force (SARS) for mistreating the people and violating the basic human rights of citizens on numerous occasions. Internationally recognized individuals, brands, and organizations such as Kanye West (Good Music), Jack Dorsey (Twitter), Davido, etc have lent their voices to the struggle to end police excesses in Nigeria. Musicians have not been left out, as is the norm, music is meant to carry the message of the people and speak the language of the people hence many musicians have spoken up.

This is not the first time we have written about The Nigerian Police. There have been numerous reports of people being kidnapped and abducted against their will, extrajudicial killings, armed robbery, and theft of people’s personal effects like money, laptops, phones, etc have emerged from Africa’s most populous nation. That is why the citizens have decided to take to the streets to express their anger and disappointment at the Government for not taking appropriate actions to clamp down on members of the Special Antirobbery Unit of the police for their excesses.

Artists like Fefe Blanko, Terry Apala, and Acetune have released singles describing the ordeal the Nigerian youth is facing in the hands of the Police and the Government in general. The playlist below is dedicated to music released during the protest and that addresses the struggle.

We have become accustomed to young Pablozy putting in some heavy features of late. First, it was Ichaba of DMW and now it is uncle Azeez. We have information that he also has a Teniola Feature that he may as well drop before the turn of the year. Uncle Azeez is a famous multitalented Nigerian Comedian, actor, dancer, and now a singer who acquired thousands of Instagram followers from making Comedy Skits on Instagram. We are really impressed with his melodic verse on the track and hoping to get more music from his brand in the future.

Young Pablozy’s new track is a heavy Highlife tune that is likely to be a favorite in beer parlors and pubs around the country. He has been surprisingly very active particularly during the COVID crisis. It feels as if he saw that a lot of music was not being put out so he decided to take advantage of that and put out a lot of content during the period and it seems the risk is paying off. The track is produced by talented producer Amos Mega Beats.
